Dubrovnik

Daniela Rogulj

If you have ample time on the island of Korčula and even a little extra time for a day trip or two, visiting the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’ is a must. King’s Landing – we mean, Dubrovnik – is located just under three hours away from Marco Polo’s birthplace – and it’s not so hard to get to, either.

By catamaran

Kapetan Luka operates two lines from Korčula to Dubrovnik. One route stops in Mljet (Pomena) before Dubrovnik, and the other stops in Sobra (Mljet) before Dubrovnik. Both routes take just two hours from Korčula.

By ferry

Jadrolinija operates a ferry during the season from June to September. Though using this option would require an overnight stay in Dubrovnik (the ferry arrives in the evening) the ferry takes just under two hours. The 2018 timetable has yet to be released, but you can find the 2017 timetable here

By bus

You can take a bus from Korčula to Dubrovnik in around 3 hours! Autotrans usually operates this route, arriving in Dubrovnik at about 10 am. Though ticket costs may vary depending on pre, peak, or postseason, they are generally around 13 euro. You can find the bus timetable here

By car

It’s also not so hard getting from Korčula to Dubrovnik by car, and a ride through the Pelješac peninsula will not having you complaining. The drive from Korčula to Dubrovnik would first entail you getting on the Dominče-Orebić car ferry (20 minutes). After you’ve arrived in Orebić, you’ll take a two-hour drive along the coast to Dubrovnik – one of the most beautiful car rides you’ll do in your lifetime, we promise.

If you’re interested in checking out a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its famous walls, Rector Palace, Franciscan Monastery, one of the most beautiful streets in the world (Stradun), and a 12th-century cathedral destined to leave you breathless, you won’t want to miss a chance at hopping on over to Dubrovnik for a day.

Oh, and let’s not forget to mention that the most popular television series on the world, Game of Thrones, has filmed in this historical dreamland time and time again.
