Zagreb Arts and Crafts Musuem
The Arts and Crafts Museum was founded in 1880 with the intention of preserving the works of art and craft against the new predominance of industrial products.
With its 160,000 exhibits, the Arts and Crafts Museum is a national-level museum for artistic production and the history of material culture in Croatia.
The collection of Baroque polychrome and gilt sculptures; the paintings and miniatures collections are among the most comprehensive in the country. The glass collection encompasses a very high number of objects from antiquity through Renaissance to contemporary art, thus representing the style and technological development of both European and local production.
Photographs collection has extremely rich holdings, parts of which date back to the period before WWI. The Museum has recently established collections encompassing the following: Architectural items, clocks and watches, graphic & product design.
The holdings' expansion is owed to major donations, such as: Penic, Zaplaz, Akacic, Ibler, Urlich, Pichler, Krizman, Maric, Matkovic-Majer and Vinski.
