Wheelchair hire in Istria

by Nino Zappia
(Hereford, England)

Hi.

At last, the disability issue for visitors to Croatia is being discussed. Thank you for that.

I am an MS (secondary progressive) sufferer and have owned a beautiful villa apartment near Porec in Istria since 2004. Over the last year when walking more than 200 metres, I require a wheelchair. This now means that when we visit our place in Croatia we have to take a wheelchair.

Does anyone know if it is possible to hire a wheelchair in Istria for the duration of our visits? It would make it so much easier than having to bring it with us. Or, even buying one out here would be a good idea. Again, not sure where we would go to do this.

Cobbled streets - beautiful to look at but a bone shaker in a wheelchair. Any advice, apart from, don't go there, would be useful.

Istria is so truly beautiful and I cannot let my disability stop both me and my family from enjoying it.

Any advice with regards disability would be welcome.
Many thanks
Nino Zappia
