The Dol Atelier with Marinka

Since our grandchildren love to paint (the girls) and draw (the boy), we were very pleased to hear that a Dol artist has Saturday morning sessions for children. And to find out that she speaks German!

The setting is idyllic and artistic. What better place to give one's creativity free reign! The children have complete access to a special room for paints, paper, ideas, etc. Marinka is there to make suggestions and discuss new techniques for creating a particular, desired effect. But it's certainly in no way a school art class where the teacher stands up in front and all the children make the same thing.

And then, after the morning session, when we came back to collect the happy children, we were very interested in, even excited by, the watercolors Marinka herself has painted (flora and fauna for a Planet Hvar theme) and the kids saw our close inspection and choice process. It was a great opportunity for them to experience an artist close up and firsthand.

Upon return the next day for yet another look (we couldn't get some of the paintings out of our minds) we also saw an adult there for some private coaching. It's not only for kids.
