Osijek - Hotel Mursa

by Natasa Lujic
(Dubrovnik)

This hotel seemed more like a hostel but with ensuite bathroom facilities. The room were very basic, small and had no air con. I've changed rooms twice during my stay and the best equipped bathroom was on 5th floor, you actually had a proper shower cubicle but the shower head still wasn't mounted above so it had to be held by hand when showering.

I've also had rooms on 3rd and 7th floors and the bathrooms there were in desperate need of renovations. The rooms appeared to be all twin with small single beds. There was one appartment room on 5th floor, I got a quick look inside it when the cleaners left the door open and this seemed to be a nice room with a large double bed and separate siting area (it faced the back of the hotel however).

This is what the photos of the hotel show when you go on their website. There is a railway line right at the back of the hotel so if you had a room at the back, you didn't get much sleep. One of my friends also had cockroaches in his room, he was on the 3rd floor. Breakfast was very modest, with not much to choose from. But there was plenty of bread, cheese and processed ham. The hotel was a fair walk from the centre of Osijek. On a positive note, staff seemed very friendly and helpful and TV in the room had lots and lots of different channels.
