Jams and Jellies at The Quaich
What, not more grapes from our lovely neighbours? What the h@@l to do with them all? Then I thought get my WI hat on - something I've always tried to resist but ultimately have to admit that living in a small village on Hvar where the old fashioned values like helping with the grape harvest or mending an old chair for a friend, becomes inevitable.
So, now drowning in kilos and kilos of grapes at this time of year, I decided to try my hand at grape jelly.
After one or two disappointing attempts I seem to have hit on the perfect end result and next season plan to launch The Quaich jelly factory which will also include lemon curd, limoncello and bitter cherry jam.
You can find us in the back streets of Vrbanj on Hvar island. Just ask at the local post office or shop for the crazy scottish/english couple Mick and Chris and someone will point you in the right direction. We may even throw in a cup of coffee.............
