What about Croatia away from the tourist trail? Welcome to Hidden Croatia
What about the hidden Croatia? There is so much more than meets the eye initially and the aim of this section is to introduce you to a more traditional view of the country, its culture and its habits, by looking at activities and people who are contributing something different.
We will be looking at more traditional activities - olive oil production, the famous Dalmatian accapello singing (klapa), the grape harvest and the bizarre water sport called picigin (involving keeping a tennis ball out of the water), as well as introducing some excellent and quirky characters who help add to the diversity of life here.

There are some wonderful traditions such as the religious procession at Easter as well as colourful festivals such as the carnival. Feel free to add your festival experiences and photos. You can read about some interesting accounts on Croatian practices of blessing homes. If there is a little known festival or tradition that you think people would like to hear about, send us some details in the form below. Your comments will open in your own page and people will be able to comment on your content, including photos (100kb max). We also have some great little accommodation hideaways to tell you about such as some rather special hospitality at The Quaich Experience - Scottish hospitality on Hvar. We are also pleased to tell you about an unusual farm holiday near Karlovac. If you really want to lose yourself and have a whole village of ruins to yourself and shower outdoors with supreme sea view, Humac is for you.
And finally for now, what looks like a very interesting and varied tourism offer from the island of Cres - from dry stone walling to bird watching and a range of eco-tours
Help build a great online resource for Croatia!
We are looking for your input to help create a great online resource about Croatia for all. Whether you have great photos, destination guide, restaurant review, blog, funny story, activity recommendation or anything else Croatia-related, we want to hear from you. If the area or topic is not yet covered, then no problem - you provide the content and we will build it! We aim to launch properly in November 2010, so the more the merrier before then. Please also add photos - max four per submission (100kb max). PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOUR PHOTOS ARE MORE THAN 100KB, YOUR SUBMISSION WILL NOT LOAD - if you don't know how to reduce photos, then simply upload the text and email us the photos and we will reduce and upload for you. Your content, once approved, will open in its own webpage. We will then work to also put it in the appropriate area on the site. Let's get started!
