An oil filter system that takes brand new oil and cleans it up to twenty times cleaner than brand new oil. Really!?! An oil filter system that captures particles so fine (down to 0.1 micron), that oxidation simply doesn't occur and the oil can be used again and again. Forever. Really!?! An oil filter that captures up to 3kg of particles, including water, and only needs changing once a year after the initial clean. Really!?! And then I watched the video... And then I read the manual and the technical stuff and then I got very interested, so much so that I travelled to Sweden and did a tour of the IAC factory there, where they have been using Europafilter since 1993 and STILL using the same oil, which is STILL cleaner than new oil.
I visited the Europafilter headquarters in a small fishing village called Smogen and met the inventors of what has to be one of the most unique and environmentally important inventions the world has ever seen, so much so that an oil company tried to buy the company for several million to bury it and were refused. So how does it work?
Oil gets destroyed in two ways - burning and oxidation. While some oil will always be lost to burning (and so top-ups will be required), if you remove the oxidation, you need never change the oil again. Removing the oxidation involves removing water and particles from the oil, and if that can be achieved, then suddenly we have a new environmental playing field. In the words of the US Bureau of Standards, oil cannot 'wear out' mechanically, and can therefore be used indefinitely, provided it is cleaned properly. Europafilter cleans the oil properly, so much so that it can filter brand new oil up to 20 times cleaner. That's right - your brand new oil is not so clean after all.
According to independent research 70% of particle weight in oil is between 0 and 1 microns. Most filters can filter as low as 2 microns, so they are missing more than 70% of the particles which are causing oxidation. Europafilter catches these particles, constantly cleaning the oil. All you need to do is change the oil. It is quite a simple process really. Keep the oil clean and the knockon benefits are huge. Foe example, 85% of all hydraulic breakdowns are caused by dirty and contaminated oil. Keep the oil clean, and the reason for 85% of breakdowns disappears overnight. The Europafilter system is simple to install (30 mins) and your annual filter change will take about ten minutes. Applicable oils include hydraulic, lubrication, transformer, compressor, turbine and gear oil. Motor oil is possible but with a caveat. Classic applications are shipping (one ferry in Sweden in its eighth year with no change - all reports openly available), power plants, manufacturing plants, mining, cranes, trains and fire engines.
