Dvor Dubokovic in Pitve

Dvor Dubokovic - If you are looking for the ultimate authentic dining Dalmatian experience, away from the hordes in the tourist restaurants on the coast, then head up the hills on Hvar to the village of Pitve, whose 2000 year tradition and charm is fully embraced in this wonderful restaurant.

Set in the heart of stone that is Lower Pitve and commanding a majestic view towards Jelsa and the sea beyond, Dvor Dubokovic is an idyllic natural setting, and with its (mostly outdoor) capacity for eighty people, you can choose a table to suit your mood - the intimate terrace, the cosy interior with phenomenal view, or a group circular table. The restaurant has been lovingly restored with outstanding attention to detail to recreate a real feeling of old Dalmatia.

No restaurant setting will be rememberd for long if it is not matched by the food, and Dvor Dubokovic does not disappoint, offering a range of authentic Dalmatian fare. A particular favourite for several regulars are the outstanding grilled vegetable platter to start, the infamous peka of lamb, veal or octopus (slow cooked 'under the bell' with potatoes and vegetables) and a superb rosada for dessert. You will find the home produced olive oil flavouring your meal.

Excellent food washed down with delicious home made wine and liquers, all produced locally. For Dvor Dubokovic is a family affair, owned and run by Ivica Dubokovic and his wife Gordana (ask her for that rosada recipe and post the secret here!), ably assisted by the king of marketing, Ivica's son Frankie. The restaurant is further enriched in August with the arrival of younger son Daniel, who takes some time off from his regular cheffing at Hotel Eden Wolff in Munich to add further style to the menu.

Ivica and Frankie have organised several wedding receptions in the last couple of years, all a roaring success, so if you are looking for a romantic wedding reception location steeped in history, with quality food and with a perfect setting, look no further!

But that is not all - catch your hosts at the right time and you will be treated to an impromptu rendition of - you can see Ivica and the boys in full flow on this Youtube link.

The restaurant is open evenings only from June 1 - October 1, but by request, including lunches, any other time. Coach parties welcome. Minimum number of guests required to open the restaurant, including winter, is six (there is a very cosy interior when the bura is blowing).

For more information or to book (the peka requires 24 hours notice), please contact Ivica at dvor.dubokovic@mail.inet.hr or +385-98-1721726
