Lazareti used to be a quarentine where all the passers by and the transport had to be first upon their arrival to Dubrovnik. Lazareti got its name after St. Lazarus, the leper.
It was built in 1337, and is made up of 8 parts - some for living and some for storing the goods, and the courtyard among those parts. The entrance to the courtyard was through the Ploče gate, and inside Lazareti, the merchandise was cleaned and shipped away.
