Dubrovnik Churches - St. Ignatius

Church St.. Ignatius is Jesuit church in Dubrovnik.It was built as a Baroque-nave church with an impressive facade, modeled on the Church of St. Ignatius in Rome.

The project architect is made Ignazio Pozzo and construction was completed 1725. year. Baroque illusionist frescoes in the interior, with scenes from the life vol. Ignatius of Loyola, Took the painter Gaetano Garcia.

In 1885. The church has set up an artificial caves, Dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, one of the oldest in Europe.The church is located on the square called Poljana Rudjer Boskovic. The square is a monumental stairway access from 1738.

The work of Pietro Passalacque, built on the model of the staircase, Piazza di Spagna in Rome. It builds on the Jesuit church of course (Collegium Ragusinum), Famous Jesuit college, and today Bishopric classical gymnasium Rudjer Boskovic.
