Dubronik - The church of Saint Blaise

Between most valuable is the golden statue which is located in the church of San Blas.The church was built on the site of an ancient church in Romanesque style from 14th century by famous masters, but worthy of condemnation by the earthquake and totally destroyed by fire 1706.
Current church was built in the period from 1706 until the year 1715 by the architect of Venice Marino Gropelli depending on the model of the church of San Mauricio.Same architect facade decoration of the church with statues of St. Blaise, the Faith and Hope. This church was dedicated to the patron saint of the Republic of Dubrovnik with its imposing baroque exuberance.
In the main altar is the statue of San Blas which brings in hand a model of the city from the tenth century in Dubrovnik which is before the great earthquake of 1667.This statue was the work of goldsmits of Dubrovnik from the time of 12.ct.
The Saint Blaise proclaim to his patron saint in the year 972 when he took position of the relics of the saint.
