Your Croatia restaurant guide
From truffles in Istria, Dalmatian ham and seafood to die for, the Croatia restaurant is a gastronomical feast, all washed down with fine local wines which are growing in international reputation. Below you will find some recommendations by region for some of the best restaurants. The list is by no means exhaustive, and we welcome your suggestions. There is a comments section by every restaurant, so you can let us know what you thought. Initially we will be highlighting three restaurants per region, but will expand this as the site grows. We will also highlight a Croatia restaurant of the month, and where better to start than the sensational Me and Mrs. Jones, currently in its second season, but already setting the gastronomical pace on Hvar, in the picturesque resort of Jelsa. As good a restaurant as we have visited.

In time we will be adding Croatian restaurant reviews and recommendation, as well as giving you the chance to contribute your thoughts, positive and negative, as well as other recommendations, so that our visitors can make the most informed choices. In order to get the ball rolling, we will kick off with some restaurants which have been uploaded - this will grow as quickly as new submissions come in, so what are you waiting for? There is a comments section, with photos, so you can upload your rival suggestions. Let the recommending begin! 1. Hvar One of the most original restaurants the coast has seen for a while, from its name to superb menu, Me and Mrs Jones in Jelsa. For an excellent dining experience with a hint of Germanic efficiency coupled with warm family environment, Murvica in Jelsa is well worth a look. For authentic Dalmatian cuisine away from the hordes (excellent fish) and hearty winter feeds when the tourists restaurants are closed, Konoba Marko's takes some beating. Michael from Copenhagen was impressed by Nono's, also in Jelsa. A great cafe for pastries, great coffee, chilled beers and wireless internet is Cafe Splendid on the main square. Meanwhile, up in the hills, Dvor Dubokovic ia fast developing a reputation as a great all-round authentic Dalmatian dining experience. 2. Split One for the vegetarians (a deserving cause not much catered to in Croatia...) Makrovega in Split is attracting rave reviews. But if it is substance over style you are looking for Fife in Split is hard to beat and should be sampled at least once. How many other restaurants proudly display newspaper articles entitled (roughly translated and from hazy memory) "Great food, crap service"? An excellent sandwich shop opened last year, Art&Cok Shane recommends Konoba Izvor just outside Split in Zrnovnica. 4. Sinj A little more inland from Split, but it sounds like it is worth the effort to get to Restaurant Premijer. 3. Dubrovnik Some excellent restaurant recommendations for Dubrovnik have been supplied by Natasa Lujic. Dubrovnik is a culinary delight and we will be having a dedicated look at the gastonomic feasts that await you shortly. While we are waiting, an overview of retaurants from Natasa can be found here, as can more info on the following resturants - Nautika, Lokanda-Peskarija, Arsenal, Hotel Argentine, Hotel Neptun, Maestoso, Mimoza, Orhan, Pegola, Poklisar, the romantic setting at Labrint, and Wanda.
