In Croatia Quaich Experience takes the homely welcome to another level.

Quaich Experience Croatia

Of all the small rental businesses we have come across in Croatia Quaich Experience does it the best. Having bought some ruins in 2005 in the picturesque village of Vrbanj, Mick and Chris Connor have renovated their dream stone home with three luxury holiday cottages and and pool in shared courtyard with style and dedication.

The luxury does not stop there though - guests wise enough to choose to stay here have access to some of the finest food on the island, with a distinctly Scottish slant. Where else would you find haggis in Dalmatia? And the well proportioned poolside cocktails served by your dedicated hosts are a must.

Sold out again only in their second season, the Quaich has been a roaring success and guests lapping it up by the pool would never believe the issues involved in construction to get it ready in time (perhaps a feature to compare with the smoothness of the Goatshed Family's account of goatshed to palace for fifteen ), but what a transformation the Quaich has become in a short space of time - one large stone ruin and three goatsheds has been transformed into a spacious family home with Scottish comforts aplenty, and three luxury cottages around a lovely outdoor area with pool, loungers and barbecue area.

There is enough privacy to enjoy a holiday for two (and the Quaich has already hosted several honeymoons), as well as a friendly atmosphere to interact with other guys, with excellent chilled events (voluntary of course) such as barbecues and a goulash night. Mick and Chris are never intrusive but never far away, catering to every demand while being invisble when not required. You would think they had been doing this for years, but this is their first venture - highly recommended.

Because they live all year on Hvar, they know the best places, from gourmet restaurants, to reliable car hire. All advice and tips giving with the same excellent service as everything else. And did we mention the food? Some of the best home cooking out there, with a distinctly British flavour - the Balmoral chicken from last winter is still a personal highlight. Be sure not to miss out on their delicious home made jams and jellies.

For more information about the Quaich, go to their excellent website and when speaking to Mick and Chris, tell them Total Croatia sent you - if we send them enough traffic, there may be more Balmoral chicken this winter... If you have stayed at The Quaich, let us know your experiences below. So if you are coming to Croatia Quaich Experience is a luxury you can afford. Quaich Experience website

Full English Breakfast in the Dalmatian Sun  Not rated yet
We were a bit leary of the black pudding ingredient on the menu, having looked at - and left - black pudding at some B&Bs over the years in England. But ...
