All you never needed to know about the Croatia flag

The current Croatia flag was officially adopted on 21 December, 1990, and is comprised of three horizontal stripes of equal size - red, white and blue (the traditional pan-Slavic colours). In the centre is the national Coat of Arms.

While it is new, the colours are not and they have featured in the national flag since 1848. In Yugoslav times, the current coat of arms was superceded by a five-pointed red star with yellow border.

In the coat of arms there is a crown made up of five shields which reflect the various regions - Croatia, Dubrovnik, Dalmatia, Istria, and Slavonia.

There also various regional historical examples which will soon be displayed here, representing the regions of Dalmatia, Istria and Slavonia.
